My Two Favorite RTE Responsibilities

My two favorite Release Train Engineer (RTE) responsibilities are: 1) facilitate PI Planning readiness and the event itself; and 2) drive relentless improvement through ‘Inspect and Adapt’!

Think about it…as an RTE, you are in the thick of things within this whole Lean-Agile mindset  revolution!

wedding# 1: You are like a “Wedding Planner”… preparing…readying everything and everybody before the event…checking out the place before the event…vendors in place (i.e. for sounds, music, cake, etc) …and adjust as necessary…medieval-church-trasteverecoordinating things during the event…and after the event. Then off you go again for the next Wedding to prep…it is a continuous flow…the work — interesting work I might add — never ends! Very cool !

coach foot#2: You are the performance coach! Making your Agile teams and team of Agile teams to high-performing teams by driving relentless improvement through one of the Program events (like PI Planning) which is called “Inspect and Adapt“. In this event, the work that was completed during the Program Increment gets demonstrated…Business Owners assign the Actual Business Value of the Business Objectives…Problem Solving workshop follows. All these, we get to see which aspects of our “game” needs improvement…Teamwork-footballuse the 80/20 (Pareto) principle …to pick on which to improve upon first…then put the other improvement items , accordingly, to your ART’s and to your teams’ Improvement Roadmap.
