What Guides Our Behavior?

Beliefs. Our beliefs guide our behavior. Beliefs are the people and things we believe in.

For  example: I believe that Parisians dress well.

So… when I was in Paris, guess what: I dressed well too! LOL… it was funny, but that belief influenced how I behaved!

You try it… here is an exercise:

Close your eyes. Think of a belief of yours. Think of and recall what you have done in the past, present, and about to do in the future that was/is in alignment with your belief.

How did that go? Did your belief guide your behavior? Beliefs guide us… unless you have decided not to… then it stops as part of your beliefs!

You see, our behavior is guided by our beliefs whether we thought of that belief consciously…. or even, unconsciously. Unconsciously happens when these beliefs are already entrained in our mindset and as part of our habits… and more profoundly, as part of our Culture.

Exercise for you:

What: Relate this “Belief Guides Behavior” at work… and at home.
Why: If you can mirror this to your life, like an analogy, this becomes more meaningful (i.e., useful and interesting), your understanding of this becomes more profound, and it sticks!
Make it actionable: How can you apply this “Belief Guides Behavior” to creating empowering beliefs and breaking through limiting beliefs at work… and at home?
