Manipulation — a form of dark psychology — is the tribe killer.

Dark Psychology is the art and science of manipulation and mind control; a phenomenon by which people use tactics of motivation, persuasion, manipulation, and coercion to get what they want.
Example: when you provide a speech to a certain group…they are attending because of the perception that they will get an idea from you. However, if you are just drawing them in to promote yourself or to market your product, you have just practiced dark psychology of manipulation…a tribe killer.
What happens if we reverse that example?

Do this instead: If you bring ideas — not your ego — to the fore, again and again, you’ll raise the bar for everyone else. Example: TED Talks brings forth ideas worth spreading. The TED Talks tribe is alive and well!
That latter example would be better for your tribe, wouldn’t you think?
