Winter Of…

Some folks see winter of discontent… some folks see winter of fun. Which side you are on depends on how prepared you are come ‘winter time’.

In his book, ‘The Four Seasons of Life’, Jim Rohn stated ‘winter of life’ like this:

‘Winter is the season where you have to operate at your best while the world around you, including the circumstances you face – Be they financial, emotional, social or otherwise are challenging. Winter is the time where you must survive and live on previous spring and summer harvests where wealth, emotional lessons, social welfare and connections with others have been strong. In winter some or all areas of your life will breakdown, not be so strong and it is important for you as an individual to look inside of yourself, reflect and grow.’ — Jim Rohn

In Lean Agile, how you decompose epics into features, features into stories, matters… it will affect which side you will be on come ‘winter time’: the side of ‘winter of discontent’ — where all things in your world are challenging and crashing down — or the side of ‘winter of fun’… where you can operate at your best while things around you are challenging.

Nonetheless, your ability to reflect and grow will make you better — if you act upon the lessons — and be more prepared come next ‘winter’.
