Strategy — The Philosophy of Becoming

Strategy = The Philosophy of becoming a new and better version of yourself, your team, your ART, your Portfolio

It is like a “Blueprint” – like the overarching “Plan” of a house or a building.

It is a philosophy of becoming overtime… of achieving long-term goals by making choices about where to focus, how to compete, and how to use resources effectively.

It is about choosing what to do – and what not to do – to win over time.

For example, a company’s strategy might focus on becoming the market leader in sustainable products. From an LPM (Lean Portfolio Management) perspective, first principles thinking would prompt the organization to revisit how portfolio investments are selected and prioritized: Are current initiatives directly supporting the sustainability strategy, or are resources tied up in projects that don’t contribute to this goal? By tracing each investment back to the core strategic objective, LPM ensures that execution is continually aligned with the company’s long-term vision

Strategy is the long-term game plan; Tactics are short-term moves.

It is like overarching “Blueprint” is to Strategy, whilst the plan for laying out “Bricks” is to Tactics.

Coming up: Strategic thinking… the thing that happens before Strategy.
